(but let's be honest, it's really all about Leo & Rosie)

Twenty-One Months.

She sings to herself on and off all day long and knows all the words to her favorite tunes - twinkle twinkle, wheels on the bus, which she calls "round the bus" and her favorite Ring around the Rosie. She's constantly trying to con one of us into playing ring around the rosie with her - she goes up to her friend Emma, bending down to make eye contact and says "ring around the rosie, please?" She loves to play pretend - is always pushing dolls or animals in her baby stroller and saying "Bye bye mama - go to play group!"

She's speaking in full sentences most of the time, remembers everything, including people's names and relationships - she can name almost all 24 kids in leo's class and their parents and brothers and sisters. His friends all love her and on the soccer field last week she had a huge gang of 4 and half year olds all taking turns hugging her around the waist and lifting her up in the air. She loves the songs from Leo's friday shabbat sing-a-long and can often be heard humming "shabbat day" or "dinosaur knocking at my door". She's becoming much stronger willed and we're having daily battles all of a sudden about what clothes and shoes to wear - she prefers a mismatched pair from two of leo's old shoes she found in her closet - both way too big for her. Teeth brushing and ponytails have also become recent battles - "No piggy Tales!" she told me this morning ripping the hair band straight out of her hair. She loves her days at home with her grandma's and is constantly asking for them both and has definitive ideas about what she wants to do with them - "park, playgroup, story-hour, or "pizza store." She's great fun at berkeley bowl with me where she devours cheese samples and makes friends with everyone.

She's also getting better at standing up to her brother - they've been playing wonderfully together in the early mornings and afternoons - legos and hours of pretend games, and they push each other in the swing in our backyard or make towers of pillow to jump from in our living room - but Rosie's fighting back more when he's mean to her or takes away her toy - she says "na nana foo foo!" which he taught her but she fully understands and uses only when he makes her mad. Here she is taking part in Leo's first sleepover with BFF Ryder. Ryder was having a new baby brother so bunked on the floor in between Leo's bed and Rosie's crib to both of their delight.
