Two, Five

Leo & Rosie are having a ball together in the backyard. Leo & Eric have been off all week and Rosie loves having them home. She took them to her Monday morning playgroup to show them around and we all went to the beach for an overnight, they had a blast tideoopling and running nude on the beach. Rosie feels really grown up - she potty trained herself pretty much over the past month or so, we were hoping to wait till this summer when it would be easier for us, but she had other plans. I think its made some of the "no by myselfs" be a little less intense.

Nothing in the family gets past her - she had a fever today and needed to talk about why and what it meant all day long - "A fever means you have boogers in your nose?" "If I eat oranges it will make me all better." She's a great conversationalist and wants to hear stories all day long about when mama and dada were little kids. She stood on the chair while I was making soup tonight and we discussed Leeks and garlic presses and can openers.

Leo was jealous of her fever and didn't want to miss out on the popsicles - he's also asking questions nonstop all day trying to make sense of everything. Kindergarten is on the horizon, but he's more focused on finding dinosaur bones in the sandbox at preschool, dancing these elaborate Coppelia ballet reenactments in our living room, and riding his bike. He was fascinated with learning about passover at school - the questions got to a level we really couldn't answer anymore - why god made the plagues, what cattle disease means, exactly. He's over interested in Rosie's potty training and the poop jokes have made a huge comeback in our house. we're hoping it subsides soon because it's driving us crazy.
